About Us
From the ideas over the last decade to the ideas of the future. The Malarky Group is the administrative focal point for a number of projects. Including, but not limited to;
Active with Andy, also known as ‘AWA’ is the main ‘day to day’ business of the group.
AWA delivers an array of personal training and coaching for individuals struggling with their fitness, mindset or career obstacles.
Opportunities range from receiving substantial discounts on partner offers such as nutritional products and/or merchandise as well as getting down to the ‘nitty gritty’ by TRUTHFULLY helping you seek your goals.
The DZXRP is an online community sponsored by the group that provides a platform for gamers to immerse themselves in an environment to decompress.
A gaming community at heart, the DZXRP has evolved into a community that promotes a positive culture and recognises the benefits that come with a well led community online.
If you are a gamer and enjoy DayZ. Check DZXRP for something different.
The Malarky Group or ‘MG’ is simply the mechanism that is used for us to easily administer the projects and work we are involved with.
The core element of our purpose is to educate and enable. Through AWA, we do this through individual and group training with an emphasis not only on fitness, but also mindset and goal setting.
In addition, we support communities such as DZXRP to increase social impact.
WHERE THE F*CK DID ‘MALARKY’ COME FROM?
Oh that would be my fault. Behind everything we do, is something fondly called a ‘pain in the ass’. Or Andy, to give me my proper name.
I grew up with facial paralysis, a form known as Bell’s Palsy. Having it since birth, it wasn’t noticed until I’d broken my foot and took a trip to hospital at the age of six. A year or so later, an operation was conducted to place a gold weight in my upper right eyelid, which remains to this day.
It never affected me, wasn’t an issue. In fact, the one person most likely to mention it would be me. The only person usually…..Â
Much like the ‘jack of all trades’ joke I’m known for, I’d proactively talk about my favourite James Bond film, Goldeneye…. My favourite Batman Villain, Two Face….. and of course my favourite singer, Elvis Presley.
For reasons still to be fully understood, the plan in place for the Bell’s Palsy was never achieved leading to an acceptance that would occur through future set-backs. Removing the option to address them.
While dipping my toes into everything kept me occupied. That was the problem. Being occupied meant I was distracted, being distracted meant I could put a lid onto things and accept them ‘as is’. Another joke I’d develop which was really an excuse was; “Malarky by name, Malarky by nature”..
In my 30s I would eventually understand that the crippling sense of impending death prior to any engagement was in fact something called anxiety. As a master of self sabotage (something we’re all great at), I, like all of us do, felt ‘fine’. (My Tada” face usually being used to show this).
Someone once told me fine meant; fixated, irritable, neurotic and emotional, they were bang on. In becoming a coach I began realising the commonality between all of us. We’re just people. Through seeing the early results and impacts on others, and through other involuntary mechanisms, I somehow managed to say ‘I’m not okay’.
Get your violin out, quick!!
I’m confident in one thing though…Â
BEST, THING, I’VE, SAID, EVER!
Having spent over a decade speaking, instructing or coaching in various forms, it was impossible to recognise the genuine impact that was being made in a positive way. Thuds and dents of the past would make ‘complex PTSD’ become a new topic within my day to day. Not only a topic, but an asset and experience worth harnessing.
ANYHOW! Â
Fast forward to now, we have a fantastic team that is very effective at “knowing their sh*t” vs “knowing they’re sh*t”.Â
On the left is ‘a character’, the shield that said ‘i’m fine’Â when I wasn’t. A slightly lame origin story if you like.
The projects above? That’s the results. They speak for themselves.
